University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UM Surabaya) has again achieved a proud achievement by entering the top 20 rankings of the best private universities (PTS) in Indonesia and occupying the 19th position released by Webometrics 2023. Webometrics is a ranking system for universities around the world in terms of publication performance and impact by taking into account three indicators namely openness, excellence and visibility.
Webometrics released a list of the best universities in Indonesia which are private universities based on global performance.
The first assessment is based on web content, how many external networks are linked to institutional web pages and is calculated with a weighting value of 50%.
The second assessment of openness. This means that the number of citations of leading researchers under the university website domain that are much searched for in this methodology has a weighting value of 10%.
The third assessment, based on the superiority of the number of university publications or scientific articles that are widely cited, such as Google Scholar, with an assessment of 40%.
Mundakir Deputy Chancellor IV of UM Surabaya in charge of Cooperation, Al Islam, Kemuhammadiyahan and Digitalization responded positively to the results released by Webometrics 2023. According to him, UM Surabaya deserves this ranking, thanks to the university’s efforts to improve quality in all aspects.
“Thank you to all of the UM Surabaya academic community for all the hard work, so that UM Surabaya is one of the best private universities in Indonesia,” Mundakir said Saturday (29/7/23)
Furthermore, Mundakir hopes that this achievement will continue to increase so that the target of 2024 UM Surabaya to become a superior campus can be achieved.
According to him, UM Surabaya will continue to be committed to being an innovative higher education institution, Mundakir reminded that the results obtained today should not make you easily satisfied, continue to improve performance and let’s together make UM Surabaya the best and be reckoned with on a global scale.
At the end of his statement, he hopes that this achievement will become a reference for the entire academic community to work together and continue to work so that more achievements can be achieved.
