We are getting ready for the season of Advent and the start of the Church’s New Year this coming Sunday 27 November.
As part of our preparations, it has been decided that this year, the whole school will support Mary’s Meals as our Advent charity www.marysmeals.org.uk
Mary’s Meals provide a daily meal in school to attract very poor children into education and so set them free from poverty in adulthood. They feed over a million children every school day across four continents, however there are 300 million chronically hungry children in the world, so their work is just beginning.
Their work is carried out mainly by volunteers in the name of Mary, the mother of Jesus, who brought up her own child in poverty.
It costs just £12.20 to feed a child with Mary’s Meals for a whole school year. That’s just 5p per day!
Our Advent challenge is for every form class in every year group to raise a minimum of £12.20 each to feed a child with Mary’s Meals for a year.
This will mean St Cuthbert’s will be feeding almost 40 children for a school year but we have a feeling we can do even better than that!
Heads of Year have been launching our appeal for Mary’s Meals in assembly and challenging their form classes to think of effective and creative fund-raising ideas.
“If you cannot feed 100 people, then feed just one.” St Teresa of Calcutta.

LINC News

This week we were pleased to see the first of the two Year 5 groups from St. Vincent’s. The pupils were full of enthusiasm and were fully prepared for the Publisher lesson. Each student produced a full colour leaflet and found the features of the software easy to understand. Miss McGuinness was so pleased with the progress she decided to take the electronic files and finish them off in class during the afternoon session. We had a lovely morning with St. Vincent’s and look forward to seeing them once again in the New Year.

Teens and Toddlers Program
