Telkom Kenya Names Mugo Kibati as Its New CEO – Mwakilishi.com

Telkom Kenya has appointed Mugo Kibati as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Kibati takes over the position from Aldo Mareuse who has left the telecommunications company to pursue other interests after two years at the helm.
Kibati, the immediate former Group CEO of Sanlam Kenya takes over the telco at a time when it’s about to undertake a redundancy plan that will see 500 employees sent home.
“I look forward to working closely with the staff, board, shareholders and all the company’s partners to get Telkom to the next level of its development in the near future,” says Kibati.
Telkom Kenya board chairman Eddy Njoroge, who has announced Mugo’s appointment has commended the outgoing CEO for transforming the company.
“Notable milestones achieved during his tenure include the expansion of the company’s network by over 50%, successful rebranding of the company to Telkom and rolling out a 4G network, resulting in the company becoming the data operator of choice in the market. We wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” says Njoroge.
Kibati is one of the most accomplished company bosses in the country and has previously served as Group Managing Director and CEO at East African Cables. 
He was the founding Director General of Kenya’s Vision 2030 Secretariat and is also the chair of the Board of Directors at Lake Turkana Wind Power Limited.
The electrical engineer holds a B. Tech (Electrical Engineering) Degree from Moi University, a postgraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (US) and a Master of Business Administration Degree from George Washington University (US).
