The University of Redlands’ annual Feast of Lights, a worship service celebrating the Christmas story in music, spoken word and tableaux, will return to the university’s Memorial Chapel after two years of modified presentations because of the pandemic.
In 2020 the Feast of Lights was a virtual presentation, and in 2021 the university’s choirs presented the Feast of Lights outside, on the front steps of Memorial Chapel.
This year’s presentations are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3, and 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the first Feast of Lights at the university, and a group of choir alumni will participate in the Saturday presentation.
Nicholle Andrews, director of choral studies at the university, directs the Feast of Lights. Also participating this year is Jeffrey H. Rickard, who retired in 2008 as director of choral studies. Rickard directed the Feast of Lights from 1970 through 2007, following J. William Jones, who originated the university’s Feast of Lights in 1947 and retired in 1970.
Tickets are $10-$25. For tickets and information, go to sites.redlands.edu/feast-of-lights/feast2022/ or call 909-748-8800.
Those attending are encouraged to bring non-perishable food for Family Service Association of Redlands, to be distributed to low-income and homeless families in the community.
