The Universal Gospel Choir from Vancouver brings some holiday cheer to Abbotsford on Sunday, Dec. 18.
The choir presents “Go Tell it … in the Valley!” at 4 p.m. at the Abbotsford Arts Centre, 2329 Crescent Way.
The award-nominated 70-voice choir is led by artistic director Lonnie Delisle and accompanied by Rene Worst on bass, Jay Leonard Juatco on guitar, Johnny Andrews on drums and Grammy-nominated Jonny Tobin on piano.
Universal Gospel Choir’s annual yuletide concerts have been a tradition for families throughout the Lower Mainland for over 40 years, and this is the first time in recent history that they’re bringing that tradition to Abbotsford.
This year’s program features a selection of seasonal favourites such as Go Tell it on the Mountain, Little Town, Joy to the World and Ave Maria; world music such as Makobongwe u Jehova; gospel barn-burners, including Rise Up; and inspirational pop anthems such as Freedom and Raise You Up.
The choir will be joined in Abbotsford by the MEI Screaming Eagles marching band.
Tickets are available at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca. Prices are $45 general, $39 for students and $25 for children.
